Base area = length × width × rooms. Waste is base area × percentage; total required is base area × (1 + percentage ÷ 100).
Worked example
Two 12.5 ft by 10 ft rooms total 250 sq ft. An 8% allowance adds 20 sq ft for 270 sq ft.
